Link Asset Services is delighted to share an exclusive video interview with the FRC exploring the insights behind the scenes of the 2018 Code, the changes and how to best implement them in the context of the value good governance brings to companies.

Following the consultation released in December, the FRC received 275 responses from a wide range of stakeholders, and have now released a new version of the Code. Link Asset Services has responded to the consultation and followed the progress closely, including hosting events via our Ahead Programme keeping our community of company secretaries, governance professionals and directors up to date.

In our exclusive video, Tracey Brady, Managing Director of Company Matters part of Link Group, interviews Catherine Horton and David Styles from the FRC to find out how the consultation has influenced the changes made to the Code and how premium listed companies can adapt most effectively to the changes. In our video, they discuss:

  • Board refreshment – independence and tenure
  • Independent NEDs and the ‘9 year rule’ – are some boards too comfortable in their own skin?
  • Stakeholder engagement – can there really be a ‘one size fits all’ approach?
  • Remuneration committees – making the Code viable for smaller companies
  • Board composition – which exemptions remain, and why?
  • Next steps – reforming the Stewardship Code
